MAYODAN, N.C. (AP) -- Good news for Rockingham County's economy.
A maker of tobacco products will bring 199 jobs and a 50--million-dollar investment to Mayodan over the next three years.
Miami-based General Tobacco, the sixth-largest tobacco company in the nation, will open a manufacturing plant in the coming months. The company says it should be fully operational in about a year.
The jobs will pay an average of 750 dollars a week, plus benefits. The average weekly wage in Rockingham County is 555 dollars, not including benefits.
The company will receive 2-point-4--million dollars in local and state incentives.

The Mayodan plant will replace a manufacturing facility in Colombia, South America.
