Banning smoking in workplaces will come into effect soon

Banning smoking in workplaces is the new legislation which will come into effect. In a study was showed that people who work in smoky environments are up to 30 percent more likely to get heart disease, among other illnesses.

That's why smokers must be careful, because hotels, airports, restaurants and even their drawing rooms would ceabse to be safe for them once the new regulations banning smoking in workplaces come into effect.

Also eateries and other places generally which come under the ambit of a work place, even a drawing room can be considered as one with the maid being considered as an employee.

According to the draft rules, it would be the responsibility of the owners of these establishments to ensure that nobody is caught smoking in their premises.

In case of any violation, it would be the owner, proprietor, manager or supervisor who would be liable to pay a fine.

The organization would also have to put up a prominent board displaying a no-smoking sign in front of the establishment.

The rules come as a part of the government efforts to check rising incidents of tobacco abuse in the country.

Anbumani Ramadoss, the Union Health Minister had earlier campaigned to introduce pictorial warnings on cigarette and bi-di packets for to deter smokers.

A World Health Organization report has found that 10% of the world's smokers live in India.

Most of smokers consider that the smoking ban is unenforceable and also is an infringement of personal liberties.

Experts think that smoke-free workplace laws lead to improvement in respiratory health over a very short time period.

Researchers reported that the objective of this ban is to protect the health of third parties, especially workers.
